I've written quite a bit about poker over the years. I started playing poker after my father took me to see a new western playing at the local theatre starring Dean Martin and Robert Mitchum in 1968. The movie, called 5 Card Stud, was interesting to me, but this playing poker for money - now that really caught my eye!
When we got home, I asked my father to explain poker to me, and he gave me the basics of the game, what beat what, and why you shouldn't try to make hands like an inside straight without the proper odds from the pot. I was an eager student.
I played a bit in high school, as I mention in my blog, and soon began making trips to local clubs and the casinos of Lake Tahoe and Reno. I've been lucky enough over the years to sit at the same table with many a talented player. Unfortunately, some were a little more talented than I was - and over the years I gravitated towards a more secure income source, which I suppose writing doesn't qualify for either.
However, I have managed to put down a few stores from my years of poker, and you might just find some of them amusing. Please click the links on the right to read each story.
